when she (carrie) says "but I stay strong and hold on cause I know, I will see you again" shows even though the thought of you can break him/her that both of them (or at least one of them) would still hold on to the memory of you until the time was right to see each other again. The 5th verse shows that sometimes any of us can lose hope and thus can break you at times.

In the 3rd verse the 2nd and 3rd stanzas ( I can hear those echoes in the wind at night Calling me back in time) indicates an intimate memory of the past, which he/she remembers fondly.
